Everything Goes On – Porter Robinson

I think things like Power Rangers/Sailor Moon/Super Sentai and things of that sort evoke such a nostalgic feeling in me, and the Star Guardians did exactly this. Since I was bored today I decided to read into the story of the Star Guardians and was surprised to see how decently the story as written.

The Star Guardians face numerous challenges and adversaries, testing their bonds of friendship and resolve. From epic battles against cosmic threats to heartfelt moments of camaraderie, the narrative explores themes of bravery, sacrifice, and the power of unity in the face of darkness. From seeing how Xayah/Rakan was used and even seeing the story of how Fiddlesticks was made as a Star Nemesis, it was actually really cool to see how the designs of these characters really played a role into the lore of the Star Guardians and Star Nemesis.

Nothing comes close to this song though. From the guitar riff with the light notes of the piano intro into the down chorus, it really paints a picture of two people; one suffering and one trying to be with them every step of the way. Just like what Porter did with Shelter, he was able to instrumentally and lyrically paint a song to evoke a sense of bittersweet nostalgia. There’s a sense of bliss and wishfulness mixed in with heartbreak and wistfulness. I think it’s a really well written song and the story behind it is a pretty cool as well.
