Dearly Beloved (KH2) – Yoko Shimomura

It’s funny how certain games and songs can evoke memories of the past. Playing the new Kingdom Hearts 3 game and finding all these old songs from when I used to play Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 as a high schooler has memories rushing by of times that I wish that I can take back and that I can relive… not just because of how simple stuff was then, but how much I took for granted and the many things I would change since that time, with a new perspective on how I see friendships and the bonds that I didn’t cultivate during that time.

It’s crazy to think at a certain point in life, we think that something, someone, or a certain event is the MOST important thing in your life, but just like these memories and just like how this game had a hold in my life, at some point, it just drifted out of my life. Yes we can say it changed you in some way, but it also changed from being the centerpiece of your life to just a memory, whether it be a negative or positive. It seems like it’s a gradual or subtle change, but before you know it, things just become a staple or a fact in your life. Sometimes we don’t think of how it happens or why it happens, but we just accept the fact that it happened and try to move on from there, not giving it another thought… just because it’s easier that way.
